How to Incorporate Contemplative & Somatic Interventions, A Professional Development Workshop
for Health-Care Providers

This 2-hour experiential workshop will include a brief review of the many reported benefits of contemplative and somatic interventions for health-care clients. The majority of the workshop will be spent learning specific breathing exercises (pranayama) and postures (asana) to address some of the most common presentations in a clinical population. Time will be dedicated to practicing these new skills so that all practitioners will have the opportunity to start incorporating these techniques into their therapeutic approach.

Not all yoga is the same, learn how to reap the most benefit out of your practice by becoming more fully aligned with the needs of your body. In this workshop each participant will learn how to utilize the breath and body to manage the mind and mood. Through asana (postures), pranayama (breath control), and meditation participants will heighten their self-awareness and create more spaciousness physically & mentally. Resulting in bodies that feel less tense and minds that have more room to handle the ups & downs of the busy winter season. Therapeutic Yoga in this class is geared towards anxiety & stress reduction, future classes will address other specific health issues.

Objectives include slowing down, activating the parasympathetic nervous system, and increasing self-awareness.
